Kathy Charles has a distinguished career spanning over twenty years, with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. She holds an undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of the Virgin Islands and a master’s degree from Michigan State University’s School of Human Resources and Labor Relations.
Kathy has held key roles throughout her career, including Head of Talent Acquisition for the Port of Seattle and Senior Recruiter for a Tier 2 automotive supplier. In these positions, she excelled in working collaboratively across organizations and strategically with HR partners to drive talent acquisition initiatives.
Currently, Kathy serves as a strategic partner to several units across Michigan State University and leads the recruiting function on behalf of the Office of the Provost. She has been instrumental in senior leadership recruitment efforts and has championed the implementation of the Academic Search Committee Education Program, which ensures equitable search processes for academic and executive management positions. Additionally, Kathy serves as the liaison to the Academic Specialists Advisory Committee (ASAC), where she works closely with the ASAC on behalf of OFASA to address matters of common interest to the Specialist community. Her leadership has led to progress in advancing equity and inclusion across the university.
