Before joining the FASA team in 2024, Nikki Schmidtke served as director of anti-discrimination policy response and investigations and Title VI coordinator in the Office of Institutional Equity and the Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Education and Compliance. In FASA, she uses her expertise to support units facing civil rights investigation issues.

Nikki joined MSU in 2017 as an investigator at the Office of Institutional Equity and worked her way up to senior investigator and then director of the anti-discrimination policy team and Title VI coordinator. In 2021, she stepped into the role of Title IX coordinator on an interim basis and served in this role for almost two years. She led multiple civil rights and campus-wide policy initiatives over the past two years. 

Before she arrived at MSU, Nikki practiced as an employment and labor law attorney representing public employees in employment and civil rights-related matters. She graduated from MSU College of Law with her Juris Doctor degree.
