Kathy Charles

Kathy Charles is a Director of Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs within the Office of the Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs. As member of the Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs (FASA) team, Kathy serves as a strategic partner to college, school, department and unit leadership to provide faculty affairs related support. Kathy provides leadership to the development and implementation of university polices and initiatives impacting faculty and academic staff. She serves as liaison to the Academic Specialist Advisor Council and the Faculty Excellence Advocates (FEA).

Kathy held roles in higher education and the public sector for over 20 years. Prior to her current role at MSU, Kathy worked for several years in the Pacific Northwest with the Port of Seattle where she led the Talent Acquisition team. Kathy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of the Virgin Islands and a Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University.

Outside of work, Kathy enjoys trying new recipes, spending time with family and cheering on her kids on the sidelines at their respective sporting events.
